Our Family Adoptions from Kazakhstan & RussiaDo not be afraid, for I am with you; I will bring your children from the east and gather you from the west. I will say to the north, 'Give them up!' and to the south, 'Do not hold them back.' Bring my sons from afar and my daughters from the ends of the earth--Isaiah 43:5-6

Back from wherever!

So do I try to give you a brief summery of the past 7 months, or do I just pick up like I didn't take a vacation from blog land.  Okay...I'll try to get up to speed.

I left you hanging with some big announcements way back in April, so here they are.  We sold our storage facility!  Sold all the greenhouses!  Raised 4700 fall mums!  Sold all but 300 in Sept and Oct!  We moved! (to a much smaller house).  Have built an addition to the house and I am still working on a few small projects to finish up the addition, then we start on the rest of the house.  Noah has had 2 shunt failures, 1 surgery then a case of the shingles!  Bless his little heart, October was a tough month for him.  He had a good CT scan last week and is back to normal.  I now do not have a business to run, our other business is closed for the winter and I think I have more to do than ever!

Today I made Pelmeni (Russian meat dumplins) for Kendall.  She has been missing them and to be honest I have too.  I cooked a few just to make sure the seasoning was good and it brought back memories of Russia.  While they are time consuming, they are not hard to make.  Kendall wanted to take some to school for their Thanksgiving dinner.

The children go to a Christian school and I have been pleased with the progress I have seen in each of them.  Corbin's confidence is growing, Kendall's English comprehension is getting much better and Eli...well let's just say that it's a good thing he is so cute!  He is learning that he is not the boss and still has to do his work just like all the other children.  He has learned to draw and now has little Eli sketches everywhere!  Noah is in pre-k at a different school, and is doing very well.  He has surprised me the most of all the children.  He has a sweet spirit and it is showing more every day.

We are preparing for Thanksgiving with my family, then off to Ken's mother's for a few days, so I will not update for a week.  But I will try to learn how to load photos on this computer and share how the children have grown.  I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving Holiday!  I know we will because we have so much to be thankful for!

SLACKER!!!!!!!

I really have no good reason for not updating, unless you count...Christmas, adjustment with our new daughter, Keisha's wedding, school, being sick, then everyone being sick....and on and on.

I have been really busy, but what mom isn't?  Kendall is doing wonderful.  She is learning so quickly, she is even reading over my shoulder as I type e-mails and do my work.  We just celebrated 2 years home with the boys and now it's the 6 month mark with Kendall.

So much is changing in our lives and God is blessing us.  We have decided to not open the nursery this spring and I am enjoying the extra time.  We have even sold 2 of the greenhouses!!!!  There is so much news coming your way in the next few weeks, just please keep us in your prayers.

I am volunteering with The Medical Advocacy Team and we all need your prayers.  I'll try to get the links to some really great blogs posted tomorrow.

Gotta run and fix food for the children, they all seem to think they are starving!  Oh if they really knew how good they have it.

Blessings,
Shannon

Busy, Busy, Busy

I knew I would be busy when we were home with our new daughter, but...WOW!  There is still so much to do.  Kendall is doing really good, yes we have had a few "moments" but nothing really bad.  We  have been communicating, she is learning English, and she fits right in. She has even gained 10 lbs in 6 weeks!  Who knew an 11 year old girl could eat so much! LOL!

Today we have appointments with the Dentist, Eye doctor and her general health doctor.  The will be a long day for us both, but I believe she is ready.

Some of her favorite things to say are "Mom, what are you doing?"; Wow oh Wow!; It's okay!";  "Oh my goodness!"; and "oh golly gee".  She is so funny!

We had family photos made last week and I'll try to download them and get the posted. I know this is a short post, but at least you know we are still here!

Blessings!

We are home!

We made it home on Saturday night.  We were delayed in Moscow, missed our flight in Atlanta, but praise God we are home!  The girls did really great on the trip, Kendall was so excited that she did not sleep.  We have been so busy since our return, and I'm sure it will be that way for awhile.

Sunday I spent the whole day with all 5 of my children.  I cannot express how wonderful that felt.  We went to my Mom and Dad's house so the kids could all play with my brothers children.  We road around the farm in Mom's "Mule", now that was a sight...8 kids and 2 adults!  Kendall was amazed at everything she saw.  She was introduced to a bicycle and worked very hard to ride it.  She started to get frustrated on Monday, but did not give up.  We put training wheels on and she is flying everywhere.  She is learning to balance and I think she is doing great.  She has faced all of the changes with a great attitude and is a determined child.

Monday she started having a problem with one of her teeth, so Tuesday was a trip to the dentist that resulted in the pulling of one of her molars. She did not want to go to the dentist and did cry a little until I explained to her that we are doing this to get her healthy because we love her.  It was also a good time to let her know there would be a lot of  doctors and dentist visits in the next few weeks, but I would always be there with her.

We were thrown right back into work and she loves helping.  We are still selling mums and she likes to help load the trailers.  I will be very happy when the last mum leaves the property though, I have lots of organizing to do before the holidays.

I will continue our family blog as long as I can, but my children will always come first.  It could be days, maybe even weeks between updates, so keep us in your prayers. I do hope that our journey to Kazakhstan and Russia, will encourage someone else in the process of adoption.

To be continued....

Amerika!!!!

We have been singing a little song about comming to America and now Kendall has joined in!  We leave for the airport in 2 hours!  We are all so ready to be at home.  So while my precious family is sleeping we will begin our journey home.

Kendall is excited and has saved a special outfit for the trip home, pink of course!  She has repacked her backpack to make sure everything she needs is in there.  She asked last night if we were taking the food that was left with us.  I her told her no, we would leave it here. She was in shock and proceeded to let me know that we needed that food.  I explained (the best I could) that we have lots of food at our home in America, she accepted my answer and went back to the game that she and Corbin have invented.  Another sign that the trust is building.

Pray for our trip home and our adjustment back into reality!  I always feel like I have walked into a total strangers life when I return from one of our journeys. Time to wake the little sleepie heads!

Blessings!
